This is your last chance to enroll in the NRA Basic Pistol shooting course. The class is 8 hours, and will be offered on Saturday, 9/28, at Camp Tamarancho, 8:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Cost is $75. This class is open to all registered BSA Venturers and Scouters 14 and older.
The course will give you the skills, knowledge, and attitude to safely use a variety of pistols from revolvers to semi-automatics. You will learn how to safely handle pistols, parts of each type, sighting, how to load and fire, shooting positions, range commands, safe gun handling, care, cleaning, and storage of pistols.
Classroom time will include your NRA manual and binder (supplied), open book instruction, lecture, PowerPoint slides, student participation presentations, demonstrations, and hands-on handling of each type of pistol.
CUT OFF DATE for registration is Friday, September 13. Minimum number 4, maximum 14 people. Eye and hearing protection is required for the range. Range time is outdoors. Dress for range time according to weather. 22 caliber pistols will be supplied by the class. Do not bring firearms or ammunition to class. You will also need to bring a check or credit card to the class in order to register with the NRA for your certificates and processing fees which will be about $25. This is separate from the class fee. You do not need to be an NRA member (but it is recommended). To be an NRA member register at www.nra.org before the class.
