Serving the Community
What we give to youth today will change their lives forever.
The Boy Scouts of America is the nation's foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training. In an era where the term “traditional values” has become a throwaway political sound-bite, the Marin Council of the Boy Scouts of America is delivering a program to our youth that is based on principles that have endured for almost 100 years:
- Do a Good Turn Daily
- Be Prepared
- Help Other People at all times
- Do Your Best
Here in Marin, there are over 3.500 youth benefiting from Scouting and Learning for Life programs. In the last year, 47 young men achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and provided service and leadership to your community. Over 50,000 pounds of food was collected for the Marin Community Food Bank. Over 30,000 hours of community service was logged by our Scouts.
The Marin Council is exceeding the National Standards for Youth Retention, Quality Program, Cub Scout Camping Program, and Boy Scout Camping Program. Our outstanding Properties – Camp Tamarancho outside Fairfax, and Camp Marin-Sierra near Blue Canyon in the Sierras – are well known for their outstanding camping programs, and attract scouts and the general public from all over Northern California.
Scouting in Marin will continue to:
- Offer young people responsible fun and adventure;
- Instill in young people lifetime values and develop in them ethical character as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law;
- Train young people in citizenship, service, and leadership;
- Serve America's communities and families with its quality, values-based program.
The Marin Council is funded entirely through donations and program revenue from individuals, foundations and corporations. Our success is due to friends and supporters in the community.
