Serving our Marin Communities

What we give to youth today will change their lives forever . . .

The Boy Scouts of America is the nation's foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training.  In an era where the term “traditional values” has become a throwaway political sound-bite, the Marin Council of the Boy Scouts of America is delivering a program to our youth that is based on principles that have endured for more than 110 years:

  • Do a Good Turn Daily
  • Be Prepared
  • Help Other People at all times
  • Do Your Best

Here in Marin, there are over 1500 youth benefiting from Scouting and Learning for Life programs.  In the last year, nearly 50 young men achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and provided service and leadership to your community through their projects. Over 40,000 pounds of food donations were collected for the SF-Marin Food Bank.  Over 30,000 hours of community service were logged by our Scouts.

The Marin Council is exceeding the National Standards for youth retention, quality program, Cub Scout camping programs, and Boy Scout camping programs. Our outstanding properties --- Camp Tamarancho in the hills above Fairfax and Camp Marin Sierra near Blue Canyon in the High Sierra --- are well known for their outstanding camping programs, and attract Scouts and the general public from all over Northern and Central California and Nevada.

Scouting in Marin will continue to:

  • Offer young people responsible fun and adventure;
  • Instill in young people lifetime values and develop in them ethical character as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law;
  • Train young people in citizenship, service, and leadership;
  • Serve America's communities and families with its quality, values-based program.

The Marin Council, BSA is a local non-profit organization funded entirely through donations from generous individuals, foundations and corporations, as well as and program revenue from membership and participants. Our success is due to our lasting relationships with friends and supporters in the Marin communities we serve.
