"Champ Camp" Annual "Chip Patten" Pinewood Derby Workshop

This fun activity helps Cub Scouts and their parents who need assistance building a Pinewood Derby car.  Bring your own car kit purchased from our Marin Council Trading Post stock, and have a design in mind.  Council adult volunteers and OA Talako Lodge Arrowmen will be onsite to assist with directing traffic, managing check-in and working with power tools and other equipment to help you rough out the shape.  Additional stations will help with sanding the shape, weighing and accessories available from the Trading Post.  In addition (weather-dependent) a snack shack and hotdog lunch booth may be availalble, and some Range & Target activities such as BB-gun and Slingshot (CampTamarancho only) may be offered by our Council Shooting Sports volunteers with range-time sign-ups available at the check-in booth.

Due to the popularity of this annual Marin Council event, we will be returning to Camp Tamarancho!  Please carpool with friends from your Pack to reduce traffic on narrow, winding Iron Springs Road.  Thanks for your support to ensure we have a safe and smooth day at Pit Row!

The cost is $8 per Cub Scout, which covers up to an hour of build time on Pit Row including one 20-minute session in the design and workshop area plus a cool PWD Pit Crew patch!  You must bring your own Pinewood Derby Car kit pre-purchased from Marin Council Trading Post (we will also have some for sale onsite).

Step 2:  if you successfully reserved a "Pit Crew" time slot for your Cub Scout(s) in "Step 1", please return to this page and click the Register button on the left side to begin the payment process.

If you have followed the instructions above correctly, we should be able to match up your PWD Workshop payment with your Pit Crew time slot reservation.  If not, you will be notified by email to correct your reservation or payment, or your reservation will be cancelled due the extreme popularity of this event!
