The annual Coastal Cleanup Day will begin at 9am at most locations and end around 12noon. This is a great way to volunteer outdoors with friends and family while being part of the solution to local trash and waterway pollution. This is the one day each year that volunteers are asked to track the trash they pick up which helps the State develop long-term solutions to litter. Choose the location that works for you and be sure to dress for the weather as well as your comfort and safety.

Where Can I Volunteer?

Join one of San Rafael's public cleanups to remove trash and plastic pollution from San Rafael’s Bay shoreline, paths and water:

1) On the Water with 101 Surf Sports: 9am - 12pm  – Clean the Canal and receive one hour free paddle board or kayak @ 115 3rd Street. Volunteers must RSVP to 101 Surf Sports at 415-524-8492, no drop-ins please. 
 

2) San Rafael Yacht Club: 9am - 12pm – Rocky shoreline cleanup @ 200 Yacht Club Drive. Not recommended for children under age 10. RSVP to Mia Bernt: miabernt@yahoo.com, Cell: 415-999-6422.  
 

3) Mahon Creek: 9am - 12pm – Clean up the creek and path where river otters nest and birds enjoy the water. Volunteers meet in the San Rafael Business Center parking lot adjacent to the corner of Anderson and Lindar. 
 
After the cleanup, volunteers from all sites are invited to a BBQ lunch at the Bay Model Visitor Center in Sausalito (2100 Bridgeway) from 12-2pm.
