8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Camp Tamarancho.
This 4-hour course is a non-shooting, classroom-only course that teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and explains the necessary attitude for safe handling, storage of firearms and ammunition in the home. The course will also familiarize participants with safe firearm handling procedures and guidelines for storing pistols, rifles, and shotguns in the home. Students are taught NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling, primary causes of firearm accidents, firearm parts and how to identify, load, and unload different types of firearms. There will be instruction on the different types and uses of ammunition, cleaning and care firearms, and the benefits of becoming an active participant in shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training brochure, and course completion certificate.
NOTE: NO STUDENT FIREARMS OR AMMUNITION IN THE CLASSROOM
Bring a pen or pencil, hi-liter, post-it-notes.
Registration cut-off is Friday, October 18
Separate NRA processing/certificate fees are required and will be collected at class (approximate fee $25) bring check or credit card.
NRA membership is not necessary. If you wish to register, go to www.nra.org before the class
Bring your own lunch and drink—snacks will be provided. No private firearms or ammunition allowed.
